LTO memory chip help the LTO tape drives to differentiate and identify the different versions of LTO tape format. Cartridge memory reader is included in all the LTO-3 backup tape drives.

A very efficient data compression method has been employed in the Dell LTO3 tape format called SDLC (streaming lossless data compression). A header bit is added to each written block of data whether it is in native or compressed form. A copy of the ram information is saved for each data block the compression algorithm works on in the Dell LTO-3 tape technology. When the data compression algorithm compresses the information, it compares the compressed block of data with the raw block of information. After comparing it records the data block on to the tape media which is smaller of the two. The data compression process increases the size of inputs. The efficient data compression technology utilized by the Dell LTO-3 tape format achieves a ratio of 2:1. Dell LTO-3 tape’s data compression process uses the extra bit for differentiating the compressed data block from the raw blocks. There were 15 of us with our backs stooped and sweat running down our foreheads into our eyes. It had rained the night before and we were slipping and sliding down the long rows, trying to fill our buckets before the sun got too hot. Even early in the morning it was already 80 degrees and climbing.

As the day gets warmer, June Bugs, Wasps and Bumble Bees make the bean vines hum as they wake from their sleep. We’ve had a lot of rain lately and the mosquitoes buzz around our eyes and ears as we pick. I had the foresight to put a can of mosquito repellant in the bottom of my bucket. After I sprayed myself all over, I tossed the can to a lady who was swatting the insects, but not doing a good job of keeping them away. I was just repaying the kindness someone showed me last year when I was fighting the insects without any bug spray of my own.

For almost 10 years Alabama A & M University in Huntsville has planted a huge garden for seniors and those who are needy. The 20 plus acre field is a blanket of lush green from corn, okra, purple hull peas, Crowder peas and several varieties of green beans. In the fall they have large fields of turnip greens and collards.

Like fishing, working in the garden is a great lesson in stress management. It’s hard to pick beans and be depressed at the same time; you have to concentrate on what you’re doing and that doesn’t leave much room for depression.

With all the difficulties we faced in harvesting a couple of buckets of beans, I and I’m sure others, have been asked why we do this, when it’s a lot easier just to buy a can of beans at the grocery store. That’s an easy question to answer; we do it for the fun of it and the desire not to waste an opportunity so freely given.

Most folks my age who frequent the garden remember when we had to pick the vegetable our parents grew or we wouldn’t eat in the winter. I remember sitting on the back porch and shelling peas until I thought I would scream. We ate well when winter came because my mother would spend her summertime days canning what we grew.

Today we freeze everything and it tastes good in the winter, but the real reason a lot of us sweat and groan with a sore back in the middle of a huge bean patch, is because our labor brings back memories of a time when our efforts were necessary for survival.

Looking over the field and watching other pickers, I’m struck by the politeness shown by practically everyone. When I first walked into the bean patch and began stuffing them into my bucket, one of the others told me that they were more plentiful farther down the row and to my right. He pointed to a spot that it hadn’t been picked over yet, which would make the harvesting faster.

After an hour my back felt like it was broken. I saw others standing up and stretching so I knew I wasn’t the only one in pain. By this time my bucket was about 75 percent full and it seemed that this would be a good time to quit. As I was about to leave, two elderly ladies helping each other walk down the row to their car, crept past me with their buckets filled to the brim.

I nodded and started picking beans again. I wasn’t leaving until my bucket was full. It was a matter of pride! If two old ladies who could barely walk were able to pick beans until their containers were full, who was I to leave because of a little back ache!

I finished and with a feeling of satisfaction and waved goodbye to the folks who were left in the field. Though my back was aching, my pride was in tact and I was looking forward to coming back when the tassels on the corn were black and the ears bursting with golden goodness.

I don’t do a lot of physical labor anymore and feels good when I do. I still recall the days when I could spend a day in the fields and rarely feel aches and pains from those efforts; not so today. It was fun strolling down memory lane even if that path was a row of beans, but I’m glad I don’t have to do that every day! Why does my cat shed all the time?

Cats shed their fur as a way of adjusting to their living conditions. Outdoor cats tend to put on a thick coat in the fall as winter sets in, and then shed the extra fur in the spring when it begins to get warmer. Outdoor cats shed in this manner because their brain can sense how much sunlight they are exposed to and use this to gauge how much fur they need to stay warm or cool for the season.

Indoor cats, on the other hand, have very little exposure to natural lighting and the artificial lighting inside home does not register the same to the part of their brain that controls shedding. Because the cat’s brain senses an imbalance, they grow and shed hair continually, unlike an outdoor cat.

Should I have my cat declawed?

Although tens of thousand cats are declawed each year, many vets and cat owners are against this procedure because of what declawing actually entails. A cat’s claws are not like ours. Our finger nails are simply dead cells while a cat’s claws are very similar to the last joint on your finger.

Cats use their claws for balance and movement, so the lack of them can be painful and removing them makes walking much different for the cat. If you plan on letting your cat live in the house, there are other measures you can take to ensure they don’t shred your furniture like getting them a scratching post covered in abrasive material instead of soft material that resembles carpet or upholstery.

Is there anything I can do to stop or slow down my indoor cat’s shedding?

There are a few things you can do to keep cat hair off of everything you own and make your cat more comfortable as well. Since cats shed constantly in response to being kept indoors, which is not exactly their natural environment, cats that shed excessively are, in effect, slightly out of balance.

The best thing you can do to reduce unwanted shedding is to make sure that they have a healthy and balanced diet and to brush them often. A good diet will ensure that they have a healthy coat that will shed a normal amount. Keeping your cat healthy and brushing excess hair will prevent cat hair from getting all over the place.

What are the benefits to having my cat spayed or neutered?

Other than preventing them from having unwanted kittens, having your cat spayed or neutered will preventing them from developing several activities that pet owners may consider undesirable, especially in indoor cats. In addition to making it impossible for your cat to mate, it also takes away their desire to mate and all the related activities.

This means that male cats will not mark their territory with urine spray or roam for miles trying to find a mate. Once female cats become mature, they will stay in heat nearly all the time until they become pregnant, which means that they will likely keep you awake at night by howling to attract a mate.

How close does your retirement life come to mirroring your interests and your style of pursuing those interests? The closer they come, the happier you will be.

Your interests, remember, are what you like to do. For example, if you could run a world seminar and pick any experts you wanted, what subject would you choose? What would you and they talk about?

Your style is how you like to do things. For example, you and your friend both love to work out at the gym, but for you this means joining an exercise or a yoga class, while your friend heads straight for the weight machines and plugs in her headphones. Your interests are the same — working out — but your styles differ.

Further, you can also find your key motivators in your memories, the things which made particular events so satisfying and timeless. Were you using your intelligence creatively to solve a problem? Were you contributing to the good of mankind? Were you competing and coming out ahead? Did you lead a team to accomplish something that nobody thought possible?

In the end, the closer your retirement lifestyle comes to echoing your key motivators, the more likely you are to feel that what you are doing is significant and worthwhile.

If you find that you are really far away from the experiences which satisfied you in the past, then this is a pretty good indicator that the misery will continue. It is foolish to continue to do the same thing and expect different results. If your retirement has now passed the “vacation” stage, and you are feeling stale and restless, it may be time to reassess the lifestyle you’ve created for yourself. Since you created it, you can change it!

Start by going back to your motivators. Look for places or situations where some of your key motivators can be utilized. Talk to people. Set up informational interviews. Find out what may be asked of you, or what you can ask of others. Don’t forget to also use your style cues. Will you lead or can you happily follow? Do you wish to create or do you feel fulfilled in helping others achieve their dreams?

The key is reassessment of your life in retirement. If it feels stale, use your imagination, and these psychological self-assessment tools, to find ways to revitalize and reorient your life. It’s never too late.

All training starts with taking advantage of your dog’s natural inclinations to reinforce the behavior you want. The only place your dog will not, by nature, mess, is its sleeping place. Crate training works with your dog’s instinct - he never has the opportunity to be “bad.”

Crate training is fairly intense for you. The rule is: if you are not actively paying attention to your dog, your dog is in the crate. Period. Even if you’re in the same room. If you’re not watching your puppy, it’s in the crate. If you think “caging” your dog is cruel, get over it. It’s worse for your dog not to know the rules of the house.

Crate training is not an excuse to ignore your dog for hours at a time. A puppy cannot go more than a couple of hours during the day without a “bathroom break. ” If your dog learns to mess in its crate the behavior is very difficult to correct. It’s one of the biggest challenges when adopting strays or rescues from shelters. It can be done, but requires patience and dedication.

Dogs should be taken out at regular intervals; after meals, after naps and after play sessions. And “business” walks are not playtime. Put the collar and leash on, take the dog to a specific spot you want it to use for its toilet area, give your dog a command “go potty. ” If it does, reward it with praise and cookies, say “good go potty. ” Forget about public embarrassment. If you’re easily embarrassed, don’t get a dog. Of course you can use any words you want - a friend of ours used “hit it” with her dogs. She just had to be careful not to use the phrase under other circumstances.

Your puppy should also sleep in the crate, ideally in your bedroom. Dogs are social animals, they need to know their “pack” or family, is close by. If the dog wakes you in the night, take it out on leash. Give it 10 minutes to “do its business,” go back in, pop him in his crate, say goodnight and go back to bed. Don’t let the dog out by itself, even in a fenced yard. Again, this isn’t playtime.

As your dog learns what’s expected of him, the next phase is to keep the dog on leash, out of the cage. Tie the leash around a belt loop so that you can go about your daily routine with both hands free. Keep one eye on the dog. When you see his “gotta go” signals, drop what you’re doing and go. Some people are successful in hanging a bell on the doorknob. They ring the bell whenever they take the dog out. The dog learns, over time, to ring the bell when it has to go. Others teach their dogs to “speak” as a signal to go out.

Our dogs are always crated when we leave the house. At this point, they see us reaching for their crate toys (which we stuff with a little peanut butter or kibble) and run for their crates. We don’t necessarily even lock the crates, but they are available to the dogs at all times. It’s their “room,” a safe place they can always go to.
